Nobody Won


I was asked to judge a leadership speech contest. Nobody won. Literally. With a scholarship on the line and, like the spelling bee, the opportunity to move up in amount, nobody showed up. Nobody was prepared, nobody really wanted the money and nobody walked away with the prize.

Maybe it was just a fluke that nobody showed up. Apathy, nobody’s best friend must have done a number on everyone. Knowing the community like I do, I have a hard time believing nobody needed the money. Anybody could use the money yet nobody put out the effort.

Burger King has help wanted signs offering $10 hour to start. Fresh from his/her scholarship win apparently nobody wants to work too.

No wonder nobody likes the new immigration law.
